Host of the 2006 World Cup, Germany is renowned for producing some of the best soccer talent in the world.  Munich hosted the 1972 Olympics and the 1974 World Cup.  There is also more to German hospitality and culture than football and sauerkraut.  Enjoy the vibrant cities, amazing architecture, fabulous shopping, pulsating nightlife, romantic castles, enchanting medieval villages, picturesque countrysides, it truely is a land of a thousand possibilities.  From the big cities of Munich and Frankfurt to the small towns, Germany's history spans thousands of years and the tradition and folk customs are still kept alive everywhere.

Munich
Munich is the largest city in the south of Germany, about an hour and a half drive from the Alps and is close to Austria, Italy and Switzerland.  Like many ancient cities, Munich started as a small town enclosed by a city wall, and over the years expanded out past the wall.  The 'inner city' occupies this small area where many sites are close and easy to visit.  You will get a sense of the ancient walls, the gates still remain.  The city is a haven for all sorts of culture, with a staggering array of museums, a vibrant arts scene and the infamous revels of Oktoberfest.

Sights to see in Munich: Frauenkirche, the Steeple of Town Hall, Residenz Palace, Viktualienmarkt, the Olympic Park, Nymphenburg Palace and Gardens, Deutsches Musuem, Alter Peter, Asamkirche, Allianz Arena, River Rafting on the Isar, and much more.

Frankfurt
Located on the river Main, Frankfurt is often seen only as a transit hub or a business centre, but it's so much more. Frankfurt boasts Germany's most spectacular skyline, mirrored in the Main River. It's also the country's most international town; more than a quarter of its citizens are foreign. Frankfurt throws more money into the arts than any other European city, so you'll most likely catch a ground-breaking exhibition at one of its museums.

Sights to see in Frankfurt: Romerberg Square, Palmengarten Botanic Gardens, Gruneburgpark, Eiserner Steg, Paulskirche, Saalburg, and much more.

Heidelberg
Heidelberg lies on the River Neckar, between forested mountains, rolling hills, vineyards and the Rhine plain, Heidelberg is a small but historic city.  Celebrated for its dramatic ruined castle, medieval city walls and bridges, Heidelberg has been home of poets, philosophers, and Nobel-prize winning scientists.  It was the center of the Romanticism movement in Germany in the 18th century.

Sights to see in Heidelberg: Altstadt, Hauptstrasse, Heidelberg Castle, Philosophenweg, Thingsatte, Heiligenberg, Heidelberg University, Jesuitenkirche, and much more.

"Our trip included 48 people and covered three countries. The attention to detail that Excel provided was essential in making this an outstanding event. Every one of our people came back with the desire to repeat the trip again. We worked for two years to raise the money and thanks to Excel, we felt that we more then got our monies worth out of it. When I next take a team overseas, Excel will be the first call I make."
